Deadpool 2 : May 18, 2018

“The Merc with a Mouth” is back again, and irreverent as ever in the second installment of Deadpool, which is the eleventh film in the X-Men series.

Returning is a cast that will try to recapture the magic of the original, featuring Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) and Stefan Kapičić (voice of Colossus). This sequel to Marvel’s first R-rated film is looking to maintain the same edgy humor and ultra-violent tone that kept audiences coming back to the theater the first time around.

But this is a brand-new chapter for our hero, and this time around he faces-off against the time traveling, cybernetic mutant, Cable, played by Josh Brolin. Brolin is pulling double-duty in the MCU, as he also played Thanos in Infinity War. However, Deadpool won’t have to take on this fight alone because he is teaming-up with the mutant group X-Force. X-Force is a cast of X-men rejects with an assortment of superpowers that range from cliché to downright ludicrous—which is perfect fodder for the self-referential and self-deprecating humor stylings of Deadpool.

The new cast of heroes includes Bedlam (Terry Crews), Shatterstar (Lewis Tan), Domino (Zazie Beetz), and Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgård). Deadpool2 is a must-see this summer (assuming you are of age) and you can count on it delivering equal parts humor, action and gore.

Solo: A Star Wars Story May 25, 2018

It’s hard to fathom anyone other than Harrison Ford flying through space in the Millennium Falcon. Luckily, we’ve had a few recent Star Wars films to ease us into a universe where Chewbacca is co-piloting alongside a fresh face. This time it’s a little different because not only is the seat filled by a new actor, but so are the shoes, as Alden Ehrenreich takes on the titular role of the young Han Solo.

Solo is a true space western at heart and has everything you’d expect: gambling, revenge, lawless frontiers, fast getaways, train-top gunslinging, and Wookies galore! The Millennium Falcon has room for more than Han and Chewie, as fan favorite Lando Calrissian will be hitching a ride—it is his spaceship after all. We are all eager to see how Donald Glover will take on the role of this smooth-talking raconteur.

With Solo: A Star Wars Story, you can expect a masterfully crafted film from Ron Howard. Howard heroically swept in and took the helm in the middle of shooting, after the studio and original director parted ways over “creative differences.” There were rumors that the production was doomed despite Howard’s involvement, but this isn’t the first tight spot from which Han and Chewy have escaped. And from the looks of the action-packed trailer for this sure-to-be blockbuster, it won’t be their last, either.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom June 22, 2018

The Jurassic Park franchise has come a long way since its debut in 1993. Yes, the original was a technological marvel that still holds up today because of Spielberg’s “less is more” approach in selectively framing these primitive CGI creatures. But with today’s state-of- the-art graphics the rebooted Jurassic World series takes the “more is more” approach and will feature all your favorite dinosaurs charging directly in your face!

Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), leader of the Dinosaur Protection Group, and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a Navy veteran and former dinosaur trainer, make their way back to the now defunct theme park Jurassic World on Isla Nublar, a Central American island off the pacific coast. Their mission is to locate and exfiltrate Blue, the last remaining Velociraptor trained by Grady himself—a proverbial needle in a haystack search on an island now overrun by free-roaming prehistoric beasts.

Evading piercing teeth and ripping claws won’t be the only harrowing task to complete, as mother nature has built a countdown clock (in the form of an active volcano) liable to explode at any moment. These challenges provide our heroes plenty of incentive to get off the island or they too, will go the way of the dinosaur. All in all, it suggests to be a thrilling ride for movie-goers anywhere.

Ant-Man and the Wasp July 6, 2018

Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), has grown into his role as super hero—I mean he’s literally grown into a goliath super hero—65 feet to be exact! And in this upcoming adventure, he’s cruising down the winding hills of San Francisco on a flatbed truck like it’s a scooter.

Lang will need to make sure he doesn’t get too big of a head from living the superhero lifestyle because real life has a funny way to keep you grounded, especially when you are a single father trying to raise a daughter. Figuring out how to be a dad and superhero simultaneously won’t be his only uphill battle, as he will also need to learn how to be a partner with his new companion, Janet van Dyne, aka the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly).

Lang had a steep learning curve when figuring out how to be Ant-Man, but van Dyne is a natural who takes command from the moment she puts on the tights. As the Wasp, she ejects henchmen from moving cars with flying acrobatic kicks and stops her adversaries in their tracks with a common everyday saltshaker— sure, it’s been expanded 100 times its size, but who’s counting.

So, get ready to go subatomic with this tandem as they fluctuate between the micro and the macro and jump into the quantum realm to stop the mysterious Ghost from endangering the world in this sure-to-be summer hit.
